How to use the map

I need a different format!

Our location map is easy to use, but some people might need a simple, print-ready list format. Please email us at info@placesofwelcome.org.uk if you need a list of Places of Welcome in your area.

how can I search the map?

To begin, enter your area’s postcode, or a specific venue, into the search box, which is highlighted in red on the screen capture below:

The map will move to the area around that postcode, and list the closest 3 or 4 Places of Welcome to that postcode. Red markers with plain circles are currently closed due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, but are hoping to recover soon. Blue markers with cups are open at the times specified.

After you search

If you click on one of the listings on the left hand side, or one of the markers, you will see information about that venue, including:

  • The name of the venue’s coordinator

  • The full address of the venue

  • The venue’s website

  • The opening times (highlighted in red below).

where are the other Places of Welcome?

Sometimes you will need to zoom out on the map in order to show further-away venues. You can do this by clicking on the minus icon in the top-right corner of the map.

If you zoom out too far, you can always zoom in by clicking on the plus icon next to it.

If you want to move the map, you can click and hold, and drag the map in the direction you want.

what’s open tomorrow?

You can filter the search results to Places of Welcome open on a specific day of the week, for instance, Wednesday. You can check one of the boxes across the top of the map to show which Places of Welcome are open on that day.

If the markers are red with a plain circle, that means they are closed for at least several weeks - do not plan a visit. If they are blue with a cup, that means they are open at the times shown in their listings.
